This spring has been successful so far for the LSU Rugby Club, but the team has its sights set on a higher goal. In the first game of the semester, the Tigers played against Saint Louis University who was travelling the south hoping to get an early start in some warmer weather. Senior captain Alex Creede led the team to a 55-12 victory. The following week LSU attempted to travel to Tallahassee, FL to take on the Seminoles of Florida State in a make-up match from the fall semester but were turned around by Winter Storm Leon. SCRC matches began the third weekend of the semester with a match against Georgia. The Tigers faced a tough Bulldog scrum but came away with a 55-10 win. Two bye weeks followed before the club played its next match against Mississippi State. Senior 8-man Will Middleton scored 4 tries carrying the team to a 75-5 win. After a bye week for Mardi Gras Break the Tigers will now travel to Tennessee to play an always difficult Volunteer team.
The club is hoping to take this early success throughout the remainder of the season and into the playoffs to avenge a disappointing ending in the SCRC Semi-Finals last season.
