Season Openers
The LSU Gold Side opened its season at Tulane this past Saturday posting a score of 22-22. The small pitch on Tulane's campus restricted the Tigers' wide-open style of play and allowed the Wave to capitalize on short breakaways. Flyhalf Garrick Huhner was 3/4 kicking, posting conversions to two tries and adding a penalty goal from the left at the 22 meter line. LSU's tries were scored by 8-man Pete Christensen and Inside Center Tyler Shaw, and Wing Matt Oliver.
The LSU Purple Side opens its own season this weekend in College Station with a match against the Aggies of Texas A&M. This is a must-win match for both teams, who have controlled the TRU in recent years. It will be the first true test of LSU's offseason preparation and will set the tone for the remainder of the season. The Club encourages all alumni, family, and friends in the region to come support the Tiger Ruggers.
